Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.) About Hippie·ish
We get many frequent questions about products and because of my nursing background I try to be very thorough. I have covered many questions below, however feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about Hippieish and our products here.
Purchasing From Hippie·ish
Hippieish is a woman owned and operated small business. I work out of my home lab, making small batches of each product. I use and source only the highest quality organic, pure and natural ingredients.I source my ingredients from companies that have the Leaping Bunny Certification, are USDA Certified Organic, are verified by ECOCERT, Non-GMO Verified Project, and/or have independent Quality Assurance, GC/MS testing programs.. Ingredients are important, choose Hippieish.
Absolutely! Contact me for a special coupon code prior to your purchase and you won’t be charged for shipping. We can arrange pick up in a neutral location, my home or I can drop it off to you. Which ever works best for you!
No. I don’t have any problems with those types of companies, however, I do not use dōTERRA or Young Living oils. I personally like to use my own marketing techniques and prefer to source my oils based on my own research.
For the sprays specifically, I have moved to an “Everything Spray.” This means it can be used as a body spray, pillow spray, poo spray, room spray, car spray or anywhere you can think of to spray good smelling scents. Except for your animals, please don’t spray your animals!
Absolutely! Order a roller, in any scent, then in the comment section, please put what scent you would like for your roller and I will make it for you.
Absolutely! Please contact me here to set up a custom order. I will be happy to make you a spray or roller in any of our inhaler scents.
Absolutely! If you have a favorite essential oil blend or a blend that I do not offer, please contact me and we can talk shop. I am very passionate about what I do, so if I can make a blend to assist you and have the ingredients, I am all ears!
The process that I use to make my rollers and sprays takes about 3 days start to finish. I like the scents to meld together perfectly which takes about two days, then I test the product to make sure it is up to my high standards. After that, it is labeled and shipped.
We use flat rate USPS shipping, which typically takes 3-5 days. Orders received after 2 pm EST will be processed the next business day. Since my products are temperature sensitive, I will not leave them in an outdoor mailbox. There is no shipping on Sunday as the US Post Office is closed. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me.
Product Sourcing
Safety is very important at Hippie·ish! As a nurse, I know how important product safety is. All Hippieish products are labeled with ingredients, whether or not they’re organic or 100% pure. All allergen information will be listed under the product safety information page.
I use organic oils as much as possible, but some oils are simply not available as organic. In that case, I will buy the purest oil I can find. The company I am buying from must have a third party GC/MS (Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry) report that I am able to read, to ensure purity. I have also found that not all organic oils are the right fit for my high quality standards.
The short answer is the growing and processing process. Organic oils are farmed from organic growers that do not use pesticides. 100% pure oils are typically grown conventionally, however, I only source my 100% pure oils from companies that use organic farmers, however, often those farmers can’t afford the USDA certified stamp. Y’all, it’s very expensive.
The long, nerdy nurse answer is a little more complex. Oils that are harvested from leaves, roots and barks are steam distilled. Citrusy oils are cold pressed and are more likely to contain pesticide residue. But again, I source my oils that are not organic from reputable companies that have independent Quality Assurance Inspection programs, to ensure there are no pesticide residues in the oils. Was that clear as mud?
As with many small businesses right now, I purchase what is available. I will always purchase quality bottles and rollers, even if they are not the same color as the photo.
I make small batches of my products, typically only 6-10 bottles of each scent. In that time, I may have changed oil suppliers. I try to source my oils from the same companies, however, they don’t always have what I need, so I will go with another company of the highest quality.
Product Use
Great question! Hippie·ish products are made with non-toxic, pure and organic ingredients. The lack of those toxic ingredients makes our scents lighter. However, if you prefer stronger scents, I recommend layering the rollers with the sprays. Multiple applications may be necessary throughout the day to obtain a stronger scent. Individual results will vary.
If you are new to nasal inhalers, aromasticks, sniffy sticks or aromatherapy inhalers, welcome. They are a great way to reap the benefits of essential oils in a compact stick. Once you have the inhaler, unscrew the outer cover, place the open tip/end into one nostril, cover the other nostril and inhale deeply, then exhale through your mouth. Repeat as needed for the intended effect.
Aromatherapy inhalers are typically good for 30-45 days, depending on how heavily they are used. Please make sure when you screw the cap back on, it is tight, for a good seal. That will ensure there is no leakage, making your inhaler last longer.
After shaking the crap out of the roller to mix all the oils together, roll on your left or right wrist and rub your wrists together. After that, it can be used on the sides of your neck, nape of your neck and chest for a pleasant natural scent. Please avoid use around eyes and face, unless specified.
After shaking the crap out of your bottle, spray where you would normally spray any other “perfume”. Spray your wrists and the lower neck to apply as a body spray. Spray on your pillows, sheets and blankets as a linen spray. To use as a bathroom spray it on the … offending areas of your bathroom (but, not on your undercarriage!). Use our spray anywhere else you might like! Car, Couch, pillows, anywhere you can think of (Except on your pets, that’s not recommended at all). It may take 6-8 sprays to get the desired amount of scent. The more you use, the stronger it gets! Please avoid use around eyes or mouth.
No absolutely not, unless it’s an animal product. My family, friends and friends of family have been gracious enough to test my products. I only use cruelty free oils and carrier agents in my products. I love all animals!
I’ve personally run into this problem when I was making my own personal products to test, using the same bottles and sprayers over and over. Since oil is thicker than water, sometimes they get a little sticky. I simply take the sprayer cap off, separate the sprayer top and dip tube and soak them in 70% isopropyl alcohol, wipe them off, then reassemble. I do test every sprayer with water to make sure they are not defective, prior to assembly.
